A Year of Growth and Great New Services for Mercury Air Group

Mercury Air CroupIn the last year at Mercury Air Group, our Human Resources department has worked hard to provide the best services possible for all of us with a host of innovative new services.

In San Francisco, we recently implemented a commuter benefit incentive plan, which was part of a citywide employer mandate. Under this program, employees can contribute to their commuting expenses through payroll deductions.

We also switched to “Paychex”, a human resource management system (HRMS)/Payroll Solution that provides increased accuracy, efficiency, and has improved security.  Employees are now able to view their benefit information online. Later this year, Mercury hopes to roll out the ability for employees to log into an account and view their available paid time off “PTO” and tax deductions, make changes to contact information, and more.

Another exciting change was the transition to Merrill Lynch as the company’s new 401K service provider. Merrill Lynch offers several advantages to benefit employees, including bilingual services, and thanks to its Los Angeles location, increased access to one-on-one services.

Mercury is happy to announce there was no increase in premiums for medical insurance in 2015, and all of our health benefit providers remained the same. With health care costs rising  we believe that high employee participation in the plans have led to a more beneficial  partnership with our insurance carriers to keep benefits and rates consistent. Some plans feature voluntary benefits, such as the short-term and long-term disability insurance options which were rolled out last October and have seen high enrollment.

All these new services will help our H.R. Department  better serve all of us--including the 100+ new Mercury team members hired in the last year. Most new employees were hired as a result of new business Mercury Air Cargo achieved in 2014, including Aloha Air and Pacific Air Cargo. The company will be announcing even more new contracts this year. Our growth reflects Mercury’s quality, reputation as the number one air cargo handling provider at LAX and all thanks to its most professional and dedicated employees. .

Carolina Gutierrez, VP of Administrative Services, says, “ Mercury is committed to making sure our employees have the best health care with the most affordable possible rates we can provide. We make sure that, with the changing healthcare market, we’re getting our employees what they need and what best serves them and their families.”

As Mercury Air Group continues to grow, H.R. will continue to seek out ways to innovate and provide its employees with the best possible services.
